CommScope is offering an opportunity for select students, seeking degrees in the Engineering field to join our Summer Internship Program. The intern will gain exposure to the Inside Plant Fiber products and business within CommScope.
The intern will collaborate with several functions of the organizations such as Engineering Quality, Research & Development, Product Line Management, Project Management and Operations, to gain knowledge about the product development process.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Drive efforts to consolidate and standardize our current workmanship standards.
Take the lead to determine root cause and resolution of a design related customer complaint or internal issue using the 8D methodology.
Assists with enhancements to the DFMEA knowledge bank in our Relyence FMEA software.
Define and implement gate approval criteria based on statistical data for the product development process (PDP).
Make additions and enhancements to Quality Matters slide deck for Shakopee site.
Conduct a packaged product review (PPR) for a PDP project as needed.
Assists with and supports special projects as needed.
Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Engineering field from an accredited university.
Plans to obtain the ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt accreditation is highly desirable.
Junior or Senior standing preferable.
A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
Has a solid basic understanding of quality concepts, statistical analysis, problem solving and process improvement techniques, root cause analysis, 8D methodology, failure mode and effect analysis and control plans.
Possesses a high-energy level, strong work ethic and desire to learn.
Has strong inter-personal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
Has strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively and independently with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Self-driven and innovative.
Is proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
