Due to growth and customer demand, we are currently recruiting for an SAP Data Engineering Specialist to join our team in Richardson, TX, Euless, TX or Joliet, IL with Richardson being the preferred location.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for creating, maintaining and distributing SAP product engineering master data for the PBU. Engineering master data consists of material masters, bills of materials, engineering change management, routings and reference operation sets. The accuracy and timeliness of these activities are critical to daily business transactions within the business unit.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsibilities for creating and maintaining Material Masters (MM):

  • Create all new material masters for the PBU;

  • Maintain all material master views and notify all cognizant departments (e.g., Planning/MRP, Product Line, Purchasing, Accounting, etc.) that new views have been created;

  • Enter and maintain proper weights and dimensions for all material masters at time of creation;

  • Address all concerns/questions (domestic and international) regarding weights and dimensions;

  • Extend existing views of weights and dimensions to approved plants;

  • Specify the material type (e.g., fert, halb, roh, znsk, etc.) at the time of material master view creation, update materials as changes occur and coordinate the material type selection within the PBU;

  • Archive and delete material masters; and

  • Maintain and update a list of contacts for all plants to ensure prompt and efficient handling of material master updates.

Responsibilities for creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOM):

  • Create bills of materials for all global plants and route the bills of materials to the appropriate plants;

  • Maintain and update the bill of material status codes and header information;

  • Archive and delete bills of materials; and

  • Perform “link breaking” activities pertaining to SAP master data changes.

Responsibilities for creating and maintaining Engineering Change Management (ECM)

  • Create and maintain ECM material types;

  • Assign ECM numbers;

  • Coordinate changes within the PBU for signature authorization and track the status of ECM approvals;

  • Manage the global distribution and notification of product changes; and

  • Manage revision letter control for master data documents (e.g., documents, drawings, material masters, bills of materials and routings).

Responsibilities involved in supporting the Manufacturing Engineering Team:

  • Maintain task lists, routings and reference operation sets for all manufacturing plants (domestic and international); and

  • Manage the obsolescence of products for all manufacturing plants (domestic and international) which includes maintaining the proper status codes located in ECMs, BOMs, RTGs, MMs as well as material documentation and determination functions.

Responsibilities involved in supporting the Product Line Team:

  • Maintain material determination (phasing out top level parts for assigned products;

  • Provide support to the Planning/Team to maintain material discontinuation; and

  • Create and generate reports to effectively manage the various master data sets

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A completed Associate’s Degree in related field such as computer/business degree or equivalent directly relatable experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ work experience, preferred in an engineering/manufacturing environment

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills and a basic understanding of databases, with Business Objects being the preferred database reporting tool

  • Work understanding of material masters and bills of materials

  • Ability and desire to learn about SAP engineering master data sets (material masters, bills of materials, routings, engineer change management, etc.)

  • Must be able to effectively interact with all levels of the organization (e.g., Engineers, Designers, Administrators and Managers)

  • Self-starter who will take the initiative to solve SAP problems

  • Conscientious, organized and detail-oriented
