Plan, track, and control raw material inventories in order to ensure production schedules can be met, raw material inventories are accurate and raw material inventories are maintained within defined limits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform materials planning function by ordering certain raw materials and supplies based on usage, forecasts and supplier’s capabilities. This includes developing plans based on historical data, forecasted equipment utilization, and production manning.
Maintain Bulk Compound inventory by taking daily physical inventory, determine needs based on space and usage, this includes; placing orders, arranging for pick-up and delivery by company tanker to other CommScope facilities.
Maintain inventory of resin compound silos. Based on current inventories and expected usage, set up Rail-Switch for needed Railcars the following day. Communicate to all Suppliers and CommScope QC. Trace incoming Railcars to ensure they arrive at the proper Rail-yard on time.
Maintain inventory of propane and nitrogen tanks. Notify vendor as required based on current inventory and expected usage, and processes receiving documents.
Audit receiving documents comparing invoices received to purchase orders verifying purchase order number, product code, and quantity, notify vendor or purchasing department of any discrepancy, and prepare necessary paperwork for correction or vendor returns.
Maintain computerized inventory system by entering data for daily receipts and issues of raw materials, forwards related paperwork to accounting for processing, and audits EDP inventory reports.
Enter Transfer Orders for all materials shipped to other CommScope locations. Work with Accounting to correct and reverse any wrong receipts. Do all Inventory at Supplier transactions for Catawba and sometimes other locations.
Verify and process invoices for receipt of railcar shipments, communicate to Purchasing Department status of railcar deliveries, and maintain documents of railcar deliveries and departures.
Coordinate with Receiving Clerk the location and movement of raw materials for optimum utilization of space.
Perform a physical inventory twice/month on all raw materials received, compare physical inventory to computerized inventory system, and make any necessary adjustments.
Insure that all receipts and returns for the month have been processed and all adjustments to inventory levels have been made for month-end closing.
Set up Vendor Managed Inventories on all packaging materials, labels, etc.
Work with Accounting to monitor off site inventories of components needed to produce finished product.

Associates Degree in Business/Materials Management or related experience required. Proficient with word processor and spreadsheet software. APICS certification desired.
Five years experience preferred in any of the following areas; Planning/Scheduling, Purchasing, Logistics/materials management, or production workflow management or equivalent relevant experience. Demonstrated knowledge of SAP inventory related transactions.
